If students are to succeed in life, they must learn to communicate well with others.  We judge people by our conversations with them and by the documents that we see from them.  The English that students use in speech and writing is an important evaluating tool used by employers and the community to decide the worth of an individual. More than that, books can allow students to expand their knowledge and travel to times and places that they haven't even dreamed of. 

Success in every area of education are dependent upon the ability to read.  That is why I am concerned about my students ability to understand their language and literature.
